The Allen Garden Club held the first Arbor Day Celebration in Allen at Ford Park in 1998.  We planted a live oak tree donated by Payless Cashways near one of the baseball fields and playground. We also planted a red oak tree in the same park in 1999. Since that time, the City of Allen hired an urban forester who took over the planning of Arbor Day and it has become a big annual celebration at parks across Allen.  The Allen Garden Club continues to participate at the annual Arbor Day Celebration by making an annual donation to Keep Allen Beautiful for the annual Arbor Day Celebration and hosting a booth with a family craft/activity.
